Fight for White
The project-performance "Fight for White" has political connotations. I’ve made a series of monumental clay heads that while standing on pedestals symbolize some kind of hostile force, the power from which I want to break out and which I have to fight with. The name of my country is "Belarus", which literally means "white"; one of the theories explains "white" as "pure", "free" from the Tatar-Mongol khans in the 13th century, unlike the rest of Russia that was conquered. "Fight for White" is the struggle for liberation in the current political context, but for me it is also the battle with the material I work with and the one I try to tame.
